How to stream games from consoles without losing quality

Most famous streamers play on PC because it simplifies preparation and the broadcast itself. However, this doesn’t mean that streaming from console is impossible, or that there will definitely be a huge quality loss. Let’s take a look at how to professionally stream from console.

First of all, we should say that both Xbox One and PS4 have a streaming option. Nevertheless, if you want to broadcast your gameplay in high quality on several sites at once, while having access to stream design and connecting additional recording devices, you’ll need some help.

Using a video capture device, you can redirect the signal from console to PC, where you can easily set all the necessary characteristics. Among the high quality video capture devices available on the market, Razer Ripsaw (10,000 rubles) and Elgato Game Capture HD60 (13,000 rubles) are most popular. Both allow broadcasting in Full HD resolution (1080p).

You will also need to install the right software, for example, XSplit or Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). With these tools, you can prepare and design the stream much more professionally.

And the final touch for professional console broadcasting is a powerful enough PC. Below are the minimum requirements for main parameters:

  • Intel Core i5-4670 processor or its AMD equivalent;
  • 8 GB of RAM (DDR3 SDRAM);
  • OS no older than Windows 7;
  • A video card supporting DirectX 10 or higher.
