Developers of Final Fantasy take on streaming

Japanese Square Enix Holdings, involved in the development of such a popular game as NieR: Automata, as well as Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, and Deus Ex series, has announced its interest in streaming. It was reported by the company’s CEO Yūsaku Matsuda.

The same public statement said that Square Enix was also interested in another promising area – e-sports. However, it is not known yet how the company is planning to master those fields. According to Yūsaku Matsuda, video games are gradually turning into media content and companies should take it into account.

Another focus area of Square Enix is the expansion of geography. The company is planning to launch its products to new markets, including Russia. The company’s last financial year showed year-on-year growth of 21% in revenues, reaching around $380 million.
